Today, we’re announcing that Sky has agreed to acquire ITV's UK Media and Entertainment business. This is a defining moment for British media and an opportunity to build a stronger future for two of the UK’s most recognisable brands. The way audiences discover and enjoy content has fundamentally changed. Together we will have the scale, technology and investment needed to compete in a changed market, while continuing to deliver the programming, trusted news and shared moments audiences value. ITV will remain free-to-air, with its public service broadcasting commitments continuing in full. The proposed transaction is also designed to deliver long-term investment in British programming, supporting jobs, skills and production across the whole country.
