Uzbekistan and the broader Central Asian region, with a population of over 70 million, represent one of the most significant growth markets in the field of transport infrastructure. The agreement to establish a Czech footprint along the historic Silk Road is the result not only of years of work by the Škoda Group team and the personal vision of CEO Petr Novotny, but also of strong and coordinated support from the Czech state, the EU, and top representatives of the Uzbek government. Special thanks go to Andrej Babiš (official CV) and Karel Havlíček, whose long-term ties in the region and personal political patronage facilitated effective negotiations amidst fierce competition from China and Russia. The efforts of Jozef Síkela on the European stage should also not be overlooked; thanks to his support, Škoda Group’s planned delivery is seen as part of the broader European Global Gateway initiative. Despite the considerable physical demands of the journey, marked by frequent flights, time zone shifts, and a packed agenda of high-level business and political meetings, the team remained high-spirited. This project serves as a concrete example of a successful and functional synergy between the public and private sectors. We are diversifying, growing, and confirming that Czech technology belongs at the world’s most important transport crossroads. #SkodaGroup #Uzbekistan #GlobalGateway
