Publication of the protocol of an important new study: “Parkinson-PEST”.   There is broad interest in identifying modifiable risk factors of Parkinson’s Disease, as potential targets for prevention. Exposures to environmental pollutants – pesticides, heavy metals, solvents and air pollution – have been implicated as candidate risk factors. The “Parkinson-PEST” study will scrutinize environmental exposures across the life course in 1500 people recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s and 3000 peers without Parkinson’s.   This study is a collaboration between our group, IRAS (Roel Vermeulen🟥 Susan Peters) and our clinical partners at LUMC (Dagmar Hepp), ETZ (Thies van Asseldonk) and UMCG (Teus vanLaar). We are grateful that >20 hospitals across the Netherlands are contributing to the study. The protocol paper was led by our PhD candidate Jolien Bogers, who did an outstanding job navigating the diverse viewpoints across our consortium!   Bas Bloem Stichting Woelse Waard The Fred Hollows Foundation Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur Gieskes-Strijbis Fonds Radboud Fonds ParkinsonNederland Parkinson Vereniging Radboudumc Research Radboudumc onderzoek Parkinson & Bewegingsstoornissen Iris Duif Carol Singels-Luiken
