What happens to food waste after it's thrown away? For many of us, that's where the story ends. But through composting, food scraps can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost, or "black gold", that helps nourish our campus greenery. Held in support of Go Green SG 2026, led by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Singapore, Public Composting Day gave participants a behind-the-scenes look at how our campus composter works, seeing each stage of the process from food waste to finished compost. By making the composting process visible and accessible, the initiative encourages us to rethink waste as a resource and reminds us that small, everyday actions can contribute to a more sustainable future. Watch as Dr Tania Nagpaul, PhD and Dr Kaveri G take us behind the scenes to show how food waste is transformed into "black gold" and why composting matters. #SUSS #Sustainability #GoGreenSG
