SIAC at the 23rd Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong | 15 March 2026 – 22 March 2026   It was a privilege for SIAC’s rules to be selected for use in the Willem C. Vis international commercial arbitration moots in Vienna and Hong Kong this year.   The SIAC team attended and participated in the oral rounds and associated events of the 23rd Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong.   Gloria Lim, CEO, SIAC delivered welcome remarks at the Vis East Moot Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception, and Lucy Reed, President, SIAC Court of Arbitration, delivered a keynote address at the Moot Alumni Association Conference and remarks at Final Awards Banquet, underscoring SIAC’s commitment to developing the next generation of arbitration practitioners.   To mark this milestone, SIAC hosted a fireside chat featuring Edwin Tong SC, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, Singapore, as Guest-of-Honour, with Lucy Reed as moderator. The discussion explored the future of international arbitration, the evolution of global arbitration hubs, and opportunities for the next generation of practitioners.   In its capacity as the Rules sponsor, SIAC also hosted the SIAC Cocktail Reception which featured an address by Minister Edwin Tong SC, and remarks by Lucy Reed, Gloria Lim, Louise Barrington, Director and Chair of the Vis East and Vivekananda Neelakantan, Registrar, SIAC. Attended by over 200 participants, the reception featured custom cocktails inspired by SIAC’s rules.   Video highlights of the SIAC Fireside Chat and Cocktail Reception can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/gUbBqnZQ   Over the course of Vis East week, SIAC was pleased to see how teams engaged with the interpretation and application of different versions of the Rules in addressing the Moot problem under the SIAC Rules.   Vivekananda Neelakantan served on the Final Panel of the Moot, and Lucy Reed also served as presiding arbitrator in the Round of 32, Round of 16, and Semi-Finals. Members of the SIAC team served as presiding and co-arbitrators across the general and elimination rounds of the oral arguments.   Congratulations go to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on winning the Eric E. Bergsten Award, and to Louise Barrington and Sherlin Tung (董希琳), Director and CEO of the Vis East and their team, for their tremendous efforts in organising a successful Vis East Moot.   SIAC also participated in the oral rounds and associated events of the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. Keep an eye out for our upcoming post, where we will be sharing highlights and key moments from the 33rd Vis Moot!
