Everyone deserves access to dental care. For many adults living with complex medical conditions, disabilities or sensory challenges, that care is not always available in traditional settings. Their needs often require specialized care and support that goes beyond what many clinics are equipped or trained to provide. As a result, many patients go without treatment altogether, facing preventable pain, infection and serious health complications. Sinai Health’s Department of Dentistry is designed to support these patients. Based at Mount Sinai Hospital, it is one of the only programs of its kind in Ontario, treating nearly 20,000 patients each year. As part of a hospital setting, the program provides access to the specialized support required to deliver care safely for patients with complex needs.
