Scientists should be celebrated, but instead they’re being treated with a lot of animosity and distrust right now. We want to take time to celebrate great minds who changed their field and didn't get the recognition they deserved. Here's the first in our #SimplyScience series. Alfred Wegener was a German climatologist, geologist, geophysicist, meteorologist, and polar researcher. His continental drift hypothesis was controversial and wildly rejected in 1912 and wasn't accepted in mainstream geology until the 1950s. The hypothesis was a substantial basis for today's model of plate tectonics. #ScienceRocks #ScienceIsReal
