Here is our new #OpenAccess publication in American College of Chest Physicians' CHEST journal on win ratio analysis in #COPD. 1st author Sanjay Ramakrishnan https://lnkd.in/eZU8iM4V Using pooled data from the phase 3 BOREAS and NOTUS trials, we applied a hierarchical composite outcome approach that prioritises the outcomes that matter most to patients and clinicians, including death, hospitalisation, exacerbations, lung function decline, symptoms, and quality of life. Unlike annualised exacerbation rate, which focuses on a single dimension of disease burden, win ratio analysis captures the overall clinical impact of treatment by giving greater weight to more serious outcomes while still accounting for improvements in lung function, symptoms, and quality of life. We found that dupilumab increased the likelihood of better overall clinical outcomes by 31% versus placebo (win ratio 1.31), providing a more holistic assessment of treatment benefit in COPD with type 2 inflammation. Proud to contribute to this collaborative work and to the growing use of patient-centered analytical approaches in respiratory medicine. #COPD #RespiratoryMedicine #ClinicalTrials #WinRatio #Type2Inflammation #CHESTJournal
