We're pleased to share a new publication in the American Journal of Hematology. The study explores the relationship between iron overload, inflammation, and disease progression in a preclinical model of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Researchers found that hepatocyte-targeted silencing of TMPRSS6 reduced iron-driven inflammation, delayed disease progression, and prolonged survival. The findings contribute to our understanding of iron homeostasis in hematologic disease and further support the potential of TMPRSS6 silencing as a therapeutic approach. Congratulations to the authors, including Silence employees Sibylle Dames, Mona Eisermann, Alberto Martinez, and Ute Schaeper, on this important contribution to the field.
