Protected by the National Register of Historic Places, contemporary modifications to historic buildings are limited. Building 305’s prominent South, East, and North elevations were mostly intact, so they were treated with care, and rehabilitated in their original state. The West elevation required a creative and sensitive solution to remedy a shed addition that mostly obscured the entire length of the building, blocking daylight from the interior and disrespecting that sweet, symmetrical barn building form. We removed the shed addition (aka ‘the mullet’) and installed a thin canopy over a loading dock, offering covered space for outdoor programming at Makers Square. https://lnkd.in/ghhF_Xq Client Fort Worden State Park and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission Construction by Clark Construction Inc.
