Through his father, who worked as a manual welder at Sif, he took his first step into the company. He started as a grinder in Hall 6. After a year, the work temporarily came to an end, but Sif remained part of his journey. A second attempt followed as a manual welder, working alongside his father. But it soon became clear that manual welding is a craft of its own. โI simply wasnโt fast enough,โ Luis says with a smile. He rejoined Sif in 2000 after spending four years at another company. This time, he could choose between three roles: roller, miller or OP welder. As there was a strong need for rollers, Luis chose rolling. It turned out to be the right choice. Luis developed into a skilled professional and spent 23 years as a roller, a role where precision, responsibility and teamwork are essential. In 2023, Luis took the next step in his career and became Team Lead Pre-Production. In this role, he is involved in logistics, rolling, milling, welding and preparing steel plates. He also completed his VT2 training, enabling him to carry out visual inspections of welds. Last year, Luis celebrated his 25-year anniversary at Sif. Over the years, he has seen the company grow: from new halls and machines to the development of increasingly larger products. โIt is fantastic to experience that growth. There is more work, more technology and more challenge.โ Luisโ advice to new colleagues is simple: โBe flexible, enthusiastic and hungry to learn. Ask questions, because there are no stupid questions. If you cannot work something out, just ask. Everyone is willing to help. There are great colleagues here. That's one of the reasons I'm still working at Sif.โ
