Every drop of water is precious, a fact that Marel Water Treatment (part of JBT Marel), an organization providing solutions for food processing wastewater, knows all too well. One of their latest efforts focused on the size and performance of dissolved air flotation (DAF) units used to treat wastewater. Building and testing physical prototypes for a whole range of stainless steel and concrete DAF units would be costly and time consuming, so the team turned to CAD and CFD simulation using Simcenter FLOEFD software to: 💧Visualize and analyze flow behavior 💧Test existing units to validate simulation accuracy of complex physics 💧Optimize existing designs to maximize performance 💧Simulate flow patterns while calculating fluid flow The final products increased throughput by 25%, with multidisciplinary engineering teams collaborating to complete the development process in only one month with fewer iterations and even more knowledge for future projects.
