The last issue of the 2025-2026 year is out for the Energy Innovation Bulletin ! 💥 In this edition, Khadija dhoume, Chloé MYARD, Louis Luquet, Mireille NGUEPTCHOUANG, Romain KADOURI and Anthony PEUJIO analyze France’s renewed focus on #hydropower as a strategic pillar of its low-carbon transition. As Paris seeks to modernize ageing dams, expand pumped-storage capacity, and reconcile public ownership with European competition rules, hydropower is emerging as a key tool to strengthen grid #flexibility and energy #sovereignty in an increasingly renewable-based electricity system. The 6 IFP School authors also examine how the European Union’s #AI Act could reshape industrial competitiveness. While stricter requirements on transparency, cybersecurity, and #energy efficiency may increase compliance costs for companies, the regulation could also position Europe as a global leader in trustworthy and sustainable artificial intelligence, at a time when AI-related #electricity demand and emissions are rapidly growing. Finally, the bulletin explores how the destruction of Middle Eastern gas infrastructure since February 2026 is reshaping global #LNG markets and exposing Europe to severe price volatility. As disruptions in Qatar, Iran, and the Strait of Hormuz tighten global gas supply, the crisis is amplifying inflationary pressures, weakening European industrial competitiveness, and accelerating the strategic shift toward renewables, nuclear energy, and electrification.
