Many robot projects fail not because of the process itself, but because safety considerations come too late. Late-stage modifications, layout rework or discussions about human-robot interaction cost time, money and unnecessary effort. That is why ISO 10218-2:2025 requires a safety-by-design approach: structured, iterative and transparent. For system integrators, this means one thing above all, making the right decisions early in the process. A proven approach from the guideline: 1️⃣️ Define the boundaries of the robot application (task, environment, people involved) 2️⃣ Determine the interaction model: coexistence, cooperation or collaboration 3️⃣ Carry out a risk assessment in accordance with ISO 12100 and ISO 10218-2 4️⃣ Mitigate risks iteratively using the three-step method 5️⃣ Select the appropriate protection strategy (separation, distance or energy limitation) 6️⃣ Verify, validate and secure protective measures for operation and maintenance The Guide for Safe Robot Applications summarizes this process in a practical, standards-based way with a clear focus on system integration. 👉 Download the guide: https://okt.to/pk4HRP #SICKSensorIntellingence
