Meet the Musicians🎵 Jake Hale is the principal clarinetist of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, the second clarinetist for the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra, and a section clarinetist with the Grammy-nominated Dallas Winds. He has held the position of second and Eb clarinetist with the Waco Symphony Orchestra, and he regularly performs with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Florida Orchestra, and the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra. While in college, he competed in the International Clarinet Association Competitions, making several appearances as a semi-finalist and finalist. In 2015, he won the Orchestral Audition Competition and, the same year, made finals in the Young Artist Competition as the only American to advance. In 2019, Jake performed with the Baylor Winds at the Festival Internacional de Música Alfredo de Saint Malo in Panamá, where he also served as faculty during the festival and also performed with the Camerata Panamá. He has performed as a featured soloist at the 2019 Western International Band Clinic with the Wylie East Wind Symphony. Additionally, he teaches private clarinet lessons and master classes in Frisco ISD where many of his students earn top chairs in the Region, Area, and All-State competitions. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Jake Hale completed a Master of Music in Performance at Rice University in 2018, where he studied with Richie Hawley. He received his undergraduate degree in Music Education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he studied under Dr. Jun Qian, Dr. Vanguel Tangerov, and Alan Olson. Mr. Hale has also studied with Dr. Richard Shanley and Ivan Petruzziello of the Fort Worth Symphony. Jake enjoys spending time with his family, running, swimming, and playing basketball. He lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife, Jessica, their children, Hunter and Harper, and their dog Daisy.
