So a few months back John Collison, co-founder of Stripe, tweeted a Google Calendar feature request to Sundar Pichai And a few weeks later, Sundar personally replied-it was live. Looks like good PR, but it’s rare. He didn’t delegate to a VP. He chose to close the loop himself. Yes, maybe it’s because it was the co-founder of Stripe. But that’s the point-he invests time where leverage is highest. Influence moves fastest when respect is mutual. The lesson isn’t that CEOs should answer tweets—it’s that great product leaders keep a direct line to their sharpest users, unfiltered by title, time zones, or busy calendars. Craft is what earns you the seat; titles follow the craft. And Google’s culture here? Not “big man replies to big man,” but the principle that no one is too senior to touch the product pulse. That’s why it’s still unwise to underestimate them. ❤️
