South African mining executive Gary Nagle received $7.47 million in total remuneration from Glencore in 2025, underscoring the company’s stronger financial performance and growing focus on copper production amid rising global demand tied to electric vehicles, power infrastructure, and data centers. The payout marked a sharp increase from $5.26 million in 2024, driven largely by higher long-term incentive awards linked to operational and shareholder performance. Variable compensation accounted for more than 71 percent of Nagle’s earnings, reflecting the mining sector’s increasing reliance on performance-based executive pay structures. Under Nagle’s leadership, Glencore returned to profitability, reporting $120 million in profit after tax for 2025, compared with a $2.7 billion loss a year earlier. Revenue climbed to $241.5 billion as the company accelerated expansion plans in copper, a critical metal for the global energy transition.
