“I enjoy looking at problems from different perspectives and eventually solving them.” This is what I said when I was asked why consulting during my interview at Lumenci. Recently, I found myself thinking about that answer again. I just gave a presentation today, where I spoke about what my mentorship program actually led to. While preparing for it, I couldn’t help but think back to my first presentation during my initial days. It was part of a case study competition where we analyzed a landmark IP case by understanding the patent, its novelty, technical claims, legal arguments, and the final ruling. We had to present our approach to the case as if we were defending it. That experience ended with my team winning the competition, but what stayed with me more was how nervous I felt while presenting. This time, it felt very different. I was genuinely excited. It made me reflect on what had changed over these months, and I realized that the biggest difference was a sense of ownership. This time, I wasn’t just presenting something I had worked on, I was presenting something I had fully lived through. The work, the mistakes, the iterations, and the small moments where I tried to think differently. Having that kind of involvement brought clarity, and with it, a quiet confidence. I’m also really grateful to my PMs for giving me the space to explore and be creative. More than just a presentation, this felt like a checkpoint to look back at the last 8 months. The growth isn’t just technical, but also in how I think, communicate, and approach problems. There’s still a long way to go, I understand this and I hope to keep improving every day. But moments like these remind me that it’s equally important to pause and acknowledge progress. Grateful for the constant support from my seniors, and especially my mentor Sonali Kumari who has shown everything from patience to empathy whenever I needed it. And to a few friends who will probably read this, you know who you are :) Onwards and upwards. P.S - I forgot to click a picture for today sadly. #Consulting #ProfessionalGrowth #LearningAndDevelopment #Ownership #GrowthMindset
