Shiseido Wins First Prize at the 2026 China Cosmetics Science and Technology Conference for Findings on "Telocytes" Anti-Aging Mechanisms from Its World-Leading Research🏆 Shiseido received one First Prize*, one Second Prize, two Third Prizes, and one excellence award for outstanding research papers, selected from among 138 submissions, at the 2026 China Cosmetics Science and Technology Conference (held May 20–22 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China), a premier event for cosmetic research presentations and academic discussions organized by the China Association of Fragrance, Flavour and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI). The First Prize-winning study focuses on "Telocytes" (TCs), cells crucial for intercellular communication. Shiseido discovered that TCs decrease significantly with age, and that they communicate with epidermal cells to enhance the expression of genes involved in skin cell turnover and UV damage protection. This research opens up a new perspective for groundbreaking anti-aging solutions by revitalizing cellular communication. In addition, Shiseido received a Second Prize, selected from among 71 submissions, at the 2026 China Science-Technology Symposium of F&F Industry (held April 21–23 in Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, China), also organized by CAFFCI. These awards recognize both the quality of the research content and its contribution to the technological advancement of the Chinese cosmetics industry. All six papers submitted by Shiseido across these two conferences received awards. Notably, two of these papers detailed a technology developed entirely at Shiseido's research lab in China, from initial planning to implementation. Shiseido will continue to leverage its global R&D network to further its advanced research and technologies.
