Meet the founders behind Shibumi. Ten years ago on Emerald Isle Beach, North Carolina, three friends—Dane Barnes, Scott Barnes, and Alex Slater—set out to solve a problem every beachgoer knows: hauling heavy, bulky gear that was difficult to set up, struggled in the wind, and still didn't provide great shade. Inspired by kites, seabirds soaring over the beach, and the power of the ocean breeze, they created the original Shibumi Shade—a lightweight beach shade that works with the wind instead of against it.
