#PIANC2024 – Applying Performance Data Considering 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 In the previous posts we looked at how performance data is structured under PIANC 2024 and how Pre-Set Design Criteria and Base Performance are applied. To 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲) 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀, correction factors must be applied. These are not new; however… ➡️ 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. Base Performance is determined at low compression speeds, while actual berthing velocities are significantly higher. This represents a completely different operating range. ➡️ 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲. The effect on energy absorption and reaction force is different, and must be reflected through appropriate correction factors.
