Hope for Brandon meant walking across the stage at his graduation. Nineteen-year-old Brandon Simmons sustained a spinal cord injury in a car crash during his senior year of high school. From sporting a halo brace to participating in Fun Fridays and completing his schoolwork while rehabbing, Brandon came a long way during his time at Shepherd Center. He was even able to walk across the stage at his high school graduation with Shepherd therapists by his side. When Brandon arrived at our Adolescent Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program, supportive staff and welcoming peers gave him hope and motivated him to work as hard as he could to get stronger. Brandon's father praised the family-like environment at Shepherd, feeling welcomed with open arms and grateful for the staff being there for his family.
