In remembrance of our founding medical director, Dr. David Apple, we put together a special issue of our quarterly magazine, which highlights our patients' recovery stories, cutting-edge advancements, groundbreaking research, and heartfelt recognition of our volunteers and donors. With our latest spring issue, we wanted to take a moment to honor Dr. Apple and his legacy, which helped shape our culture here at Shepherd. Dr. Apple always said, “You can do rehab in the barn if you have the right people.” Dr. Apple was the right person. Accepting the position as Shepherd Center’s first medical director defined his medical career and impacted thousands of patients and their families, helping them rebuild their lives. His legacy, and the hospital he helped build, will continue to do so.
