That's Dr. Charles R. Drew and family, the man who introduced the world to the use of plasma on the battlefield and the man who established the Red Cross Blood Bank in which he was its first director. His wife, Minne Lenore Robbins Drew taught home economics at Spelman before she moved to Washington D.C. with Dr. Drew. In 1972, Ms. Drew returned to Atlanta and came to East Lake Meadows Housing Project where she gave a speech in the cafeteria at the newly constructed school that bore her husband's name, Charles R. Drew Elementary. #bwsm
