Finland just handed €50M to 11 universities to import 20 top researchers from abroad:https://lnkd.in/guRm3apc The Research Council of Finland (RCF) has completed the ninth round of its Finnish Universities' Profiling programme (Profi 9), distributing a €50 million funding to help Finnish universities recruit 20 top researchers from abroad, turning national research funding into a direct tool for global talent competition. RCF describes Profi as one of the earliest recruitment-specific funding programmes in Europe. Profi 9 ran in two batches. The first, announced in January 2026, allocated €27.5 million for 11 positions at seven universities. The second, announced on 2 June, added €22.5 million for nine more positions. Three universities secured funding in both rounds. 💰University of Helsinki took the largest share: six recruitments and €15 million, or 30 percent of the total. 💰Aalto University got three positions and just under €7.5 million. 💰University of Jyväskylä and Turun yliopisto - University of Turku each landed two recruitments at €5 million.
