What is needed for an industrial site to run reliably? Energy. Supply. Safety. And that is precisely what we have been working on in Meitingen. Yesterday, together with our guests - Eric Beißwenger, Bavarian Minister of State for European Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs, Dr. Michael Higl (the mayor of Markt Meitingen), Pastor Gerhard Krammer, our CEO, Andreas Klein, and Alexander Miehling, the site manager at SGL Carbon in Meitingen - we highlighted three key points: - We brought our photovoltaic system into operation. - We laid the foundations for a new air separation unit in collaboration with Linde. - We opened our new fire station for the site fire brigade. The photovoltaic system delivers power directly on site. It will cover around ten percent of our electricity demand and reduce CO₂ emissions by about 1,670 tons per year. With the air separation unit, we strengthen supply where it matters. Technical gases are produced directly on site. This reduces dependencies and lowers transport volumes and therefore CO2 emissions. We presented these projects at our Meitingen site together with representatives from politics, business, and the local community. #sglcarbon #meitingen #energysupply #industrialtransformation
