“I leave work with a bigger smile, knowing I’ve helped make people’s lives easier. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to grow into the person I’ve become at Service NSW," says Yahya. During Refugee Week, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 11 interns from the Service NSW Refugee Internship Program. Aligned with this year’s theme, A Million Stories, each intern brings a unique journey shaped by resilience, hope and new beginnings. Through this program, newly arrived refugees on humanitarian visas are supported to transition into the Australian workforce through meaningful employment, building confidence, developing skills, and gaining valuable experience. Since 2017, more than 140 participants have been supported through the program. Some of this year’s graduates will continue their careers with Service NSW, while others take their experience into new roles across the workforce. Together we are committed to creating environments where our interns can thrive. Congratulations to our Refugee Interns, and thank you to the teams, managers and mentors who make this program possible. #RefugeeWeek #AMillionStories
