🌧️⛰️ Extreme rainfall can trigger destructive debris flows in minutes. Predicting them can save lives. As part of IRIDE, Italy’s national Earth observation programme, Serco developed Cyber Italy, the platform that enables the programme’s Digital Twins by connecting them to the data, models and tools they need. Hosted on Cyber Italy and developed by the Eastern Alps District Basin Authority, the debris-flow Digital Twin combines satellite imagery, weather forecasts and ground sensors to support near-real-time alerts and test possible scenarios. It has been successfully tested near Cortina d’Ampezzo and across other Alpine basins.
