🏆 A historic first for Korean science. Prof. V. Narry Kim of Seoul National University has been named the recipient of the 2027 Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Nakasone Award, becoming the first Korean and first Asian scientist to receive the honor. The HFSP Nakasone Award recognizes researchers whose discoveries have led to groundbreaking advances in the life sciences and is widely regarded as one of the field's most prestigious honors. Prof. Kim was recognized for discovering a non-canonical RNA tailing pathway that revealed a previously unknown mechanism of gene regulation. Her pioneering work has reshaped the field of RNA biology and provided an important molecular foundation for advances in mRNA therapeutics and vaccines.
