You’re not supposed to understand this artwork right away.  In fact, by the time you think you do… it has already changed. Mushroom Clouds 2026 by Zheng Mahler isn’t an installation in the traditional sense; it’s a living system. A space where fungi, data, and artificial intelligence continuously evolve together, shaped by real-time inputs and unpredictable biological behaviour. What makes it unsettling and fascinating is this: there is no final form, no fixed outcome, but just constant transformation.  Somewhere within that shift, a quiet question begins to surface: What happens when art stops being something we create… and becomes something that behaves?
