We’re thrilled to announce that SensesWA has been awarded funding to continue our New Buds program, supporting children aged 0–11 with vision and/or hearing loss (or at risk) across Western Australia. New Buds provides early childhood intervention for children who may not yet have access to funding, ensuring that no child is left behind while waiting for diagnosis or support. Our multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, orthoptists, dietitians, social workers, positive behaviour support practitioners, and Deafblind Consultants, delivers tailored, goal-driven therapy at home, school or via telehealth. Last year our New Buds program supported 30 children and their families across WA, delivering 1,200+ hours of therapy. We helped families navigate diagnosis, access services, and develop strategies to reach developmental milestones Thanks to Telethon, New Buds ensures that children with sensory challenges receive the early intervention and support they need to thrive. This continued funding marks another step in SensesWA’s leadership in early childhood disability services and our commitment to inclusive, equitable support for all children in WA.
