Deafblind Awareness Week is observed annually from 22 to 28 June, aligning with the birthday of Helen Keller on 27 June. This global week is dedicated to celebrating the deafblind community, promoting accessible environments, and raising awareness of dual sensory loss. At SensesWA, this awareness is deeply connected to our long history of supporting people with disability for more than 130 years. Our mission has remained consistent throughout that time: to support people with disability to live with dignity, independence and connection. Deafblindness presents unique communication and access challenges, and this week is an important opportunity to highlight the importance of specialist support, inclusive practice, and ongoing sector education. We are also looking forward to joining Deafblind West Australians this Wednesday for a special morning of connection and celebration, a wonderful opportunity to come together and recognise the strength, experiences and contributions of the deafblind community. #DeafblindAwarenessWeek #SensesWA #DBIA #Inclusion #DisabilitySupport #Deafblindness #Accessibility
