⚙️ In 1999, Sener reached a defining milestone in its history with the commissioning of Petronor, S.A.’s RB4 unit in Muskiz (Bizkaia), our first EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) or turnkey project. Developed in response to increasingly stringent environmental requirements, the unit (with an annual processing capacity of 900,000 tonnes) dramatically reduced the benzene content of fuels. RB4 is an outstanding example of Sener’s contribution to delivering practical sustainability for industry: applying technology to improve environmental performance. This philosophy has since been extended to renewable energy and energy transition projects, including the replacement of coal-fired power plants with high-efficiency gas plants and the conversion of open-cycle plants into combined-cycle facilities. Taking full responsibility for this project also laid the foundations for what has become our key differentiator. Unlike traditional construction companies that subcontract engineering design, Sener is a technology-driven engineering company that develops EPC projects from the ground up. It is an approach that our clients consistently recognise as a decisive factor in the success of their projects. Since that first experience with RB4, we have delivered 59 EPC projects worldwide (64 including those currently under way), developing highly complex energy infrastructure.
