TikTok Shop has just finished its first full year in Germany as the country's number 15 online retailer, booking more than 700 million euros in annual turnover and pushing past established names like Douglas.cz. 15% of German online shoppers have now bought through the platform, up from 10.5% only six months earlier, one of the steepest adoption curves European e-commerce has seen since Amazon's early expansion. This is not a discovery feed bolted onto search. It is a parallel storefront where video puts the product in front of the buyer before the buyer ever types a query, which inverts the search first logic most Amazon sellers have optimised around for a decade. The question is no longer whether social commerce is real in Europe. It is whether your catalogue is present on the channels pulling traffic off search, or absent while a competitor tags the same product in a Reel.
