Amazon is cutting product titles to 75 characters on July 27th. If you haven't updated your listings yet, Amazon's AI will rewrite them for you. That sounds convenient until you realise you have no control over the output, and some sellers are already reporting that AI-generated titles are being flagged by Amazon's own moderation for "false or promotional claims." Titles across all categories (except media) must be 75 characters or fewer including spaces. The content you lose from your title does not disappear, it moves into a new field called Item Highlights, which gives you 125 additional searchable characters visible in search results and on product detail pages. The total indexable real estate stays at 200 characters. The deadline is July 27th, that is 47 days to audit and update your catalogue, or hand Amazon the pen. Sellers with large catalogues are already pushing back on the timeline. The concern is valid. Bulk title updates at scale require time, tooling, and a clear strategy for what belongs in the title versus what goes into Item Highlights. If you are managing hundreds or thousands of ASINs and want to get ahead of this before Amazon rewrites your listings, Sellerportal can help you identify which listings are at risk and prioritise where to act first.
