Hazelnuts, walnuts, and chestnuts thrive in our temperate climate, making them a natural fit for Danish soil. Serious Danish players in agriculture are turning nut cultivation into a new business opportunity โ and the flavour potential is just as exciting. Today, most hazelnuts come from Turkey, which accounts for two-thirds of global production. But that could change. Meyers Madhus recently tested locally grown hazelnuts in SEGES Innovationโs project โNuts with Danish Rootsโ, supported by the Plant-Based Food Foundation, Landbrugs- og Fiskeristyrelsen.
