Meet Sedgman’s newest Principal Consultant, Andrew Curtis. With more than 35 years’ experience across operations, engineering consulting and project delivery, Andrew brings global expertise spanning commodities including iron ore, gold, copper, nickel, lithium, rare earths, potash and manganese. Andrew began his career in iron ore processing operations in Newman, before progressing through key operational roles with BHP in Port Hedland, Groote Eylandt and Bell Bay, Tasmania. Over the following two decades, he built an international consulting career, delivering projects across Australia and globally, including Brazil, Canada, Madagascar and Chile. Much of Andrew’s career has focused on guiding projects from early testwork and concept development through to construction, commissioning and steady-state operations. Having seen projects evolve from “an idea on the back of an envelope” to fully operational facilities, he brings a highly practical and experience-led perspective to the development of technical solutions and project delivery. Andrew was drawn to Sedgman’s evolving capability across critical minerals and diversified commodities, alongside its strong technical reputation and collaborative culture. He values working with experienced teams to deliver practical, high-quality outcomes for clients. A solutions-focused professional, Andrew enjoys partnering closely with clients to understand their challenges and deliver achievable, value-driven results. Outside of engineering, Andrew officiated in 250 AFL games, including the 2004 AFL Grand Final. He was also a volunteer at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and looks forward to being involved again when Brisbane hosts the Olympics in 2032. Please join us in welcoming Andrew to the Sedgman team.
