A great time commitment, organisational skills and campus knowledge. Is what I thought being a Unimelb peer mentor would require. But instead Leadership, interpersonal awareness and team building. IS what was actually tested. This program was a great opportunity to develop these soft skills. Bridging the gap for 20 new students between high school and university was as much a task in empathy and communication as it was of campus knowledge.
