Apple’s Third Act: Can John Ternus Save Apple from the iPhone? On September 1st, Apple enters its Third Act. After fifteen years, Tim Cook is handing the keys of a $4 trillion empire over to John Ternus. Steve Jobs gave Apple its Spirit, the DNA of design-led rebellion. Tim Cook built the Body, a massive 4-trillion-muscle-frame of supply chains and cash reserves that turned a boutique hit factory into a global utility. Now, John Ternus must provide the Brain. He inherits a magnificent powerhouse currently "renting" its intelligence from Google Gemini. To survive, Ternus must move Apple beyond the era of the "Glass Slab" and build a sovereign intelligence that lives in silicon. The challenge he faces is the Succession Paradox: being a "good" CEO means keeping the iPhone 18 on schedule and protecting 46% margins, but being a Legendary CEO means he must be the one to finally kill the iPhone.
