Then are you so certain that your roulette playing will get us out of our difficulties?
The new year is already well underway, but I still wanted to take a moment to look back at 2025. Not to brag – but to reflect on what’s been happening, and to set the stage for what’s ahead. 📌 2025 in a nutshell: 🧠 Research & Academia • 6 conference abstracts • 3 talks and 3 posters (highlight: #DEGRO Presidential Symposium) • 4 accepted manuscripts, with another 6 currently under review • Completed the first full draft of my #PhD thesis ⚙️ Clinical & Technical Development • Implementation and commissioning of #TSEBT (Total Skin Electron Beam Therapy) • Helped our centre receive the Novalis certification • Extensive work on stereotactic irradiation of bone metastases • Research on #PROs in head and neck cancer 🏥 Patient-centered & Translational Projects • Designing and securing funding for an upcoming research project aimed at further integrating medical physicists into direct patient care 💻 Digitalization & Workflow Optimization • Continuous efforts to digitalize workflows, reduce clicks, and increase patient safety • Building meaningful dashboards using Varian #Reporting, turning oncology information system data into something that actually supports clinical decisions 📊 Clinical Routine & QA • 688 completed designs for radiation treatments – 89% accepted without minor or major deviations (you can see the reporting coming into play here 😁) • Many extensive #PeerReviews of complex cases • Countless QA sessions (the invisible backbone of safe radiotherapy) All of this was about laying the groundwork for what’s next – made possible by working with an amazing team of physicians, medical physicists, RTTs, nurses, and researchers. Looking forward to 2026 🚀 #MedicalPhysics #RadiationOncology #ClinicalResearch #StereotacticRadiotherapy #DigitalHealth #TeamScience Universitätsklinikum Leipzig AöR Department of Radiation Oncology Nils Nicolay Alexander Rühle
