Mostly Media North Ltd
https://lnkd.in/eJMRYiqg This morning's news didn't come as a surprise to anyone in the advertising world. Commercially, I am sure it makes sense for both parties, but I feel a real sense of sorrow seeing one of the last great British-owned companies sold outside of these shores. In my 56 and three-quarter years on this mortal coil, ITV has been a constant. From brilliant Saturday night entertainment like Blind Date, all the way through to The X Factor and beyond, it has been quite a ride. Other notables include Cold Feet, back when Sunday nights truly were appointment viewing, and the still-wonderful Prime Suspect starring Dame Helen Mirren—astonishing TV that was quite rightly watched by millions across the UK. Although I have never actually watched a second of Love Island, my teenage daughter assures me it is the greatest show on television. As viewing habits have changed, so has ITV; their streams now reach into the billions on ITVX, and I am certain that success will continue. What this means commercially for advertisers remains to be seen. However, with the strong relationships we have built over the years at Mostly Media, I am confident that agencies will protect those client-broadcaster relationships so they do not falter during or after this takeover. I wish all the employees well, but most of my hope and love goes to Jason Spencer and his fantastic team—Michael, Peter, Jackie, Angharad, and the countless others I have had the pleasure of working with over my years in this business. I hope you all get exactly what you are looking for out of this next chapter. The next wee while will undoubtedly be turbulent, but good people always rise.
