A customer once shared a story that changed the way we think about identity fraud. For four years, their laundromat returned every forgotten item—cards, receipts, even cash. They believed it was simply a place built on honesty. Then they noticed CCTV cameras had been installed. When they asked why, the manager explained that customers’ money had been going missing. That was the realization: the cash wasn’t being returned because people suddenly became more honest. It was being returned because a system was now watching.
