Here is a book recommendation—-and if you’re anything like me, spending too much time online, trying to parse the latest information releases on this fight, this may offer a respite—as well as provide some history. Released in summer of 2025–“King of Kings” provides a solid historical look back, at the overthrow of the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi—and it shows some of what I’ve seen as more common than not—-“lack of real understanding” of what is happening on the ground—-with the reasons for why that happens. It reads well and should keep you engaged—and takes you back to the “energy diplomacy” of the 70’s, and the decisions made, and actions taken based on Cold War assumptions.
