Barclays Bigs Local Littles - Ibrox Primary Well, Monday was eventful and great fun at the office 😊. It marked the end of a seven week “Side Job” initiative with Ibrox Primary School on behalf of Barclays ERG Inspire Scotland. The kids came in stocked with brilliant presentations , confidence and laughter. Huge thanks to my co-lead Fergus Moncur . Crazy to think we only met a few months ago and managed to make a success of this together. Great working with you! Over the last six weeks, we visited the school weekly, working with the pupils to educate them on banking while also helping them build key skills such as teamwork, confidence, and how to debate and challenge ideas in a positive way. They made their bank and came back on Monday and presented to a top panel made up of my director Andrew Gallacher and Inspire Scotland chair Karen MacLeod , Joined by Business in the community colleagues Heather Garratt and Julie.Business in the Community . Looking back over the past seven weeks, this experience has genuinely been one of the highlights of my career. The relationships we’ve built with the Littles and the impact we’ve had have been incredible. We feel we’ve achieved our goals of changing perceptions of our industry, helping young local people believe in themselves, and giving them strong foundations as they prepare for the move to high school in the coming months. Barclays continues to grow its presence in the community and across Scotland. You now only need to look at the national stadium at Hampden to see that. I’m proud to work for a company that puts people first and is committed to making a real difference in society with events like these.
