From interfaces to impact Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Christoph Ross and Jorrit Nieswandt to Chemnitz for a joint workshop. The goal: to identify potential that is still untapped today - or, more simply, still out on the shopfloor. 🏭 We started by presenting our products and showing how they have been scaled and used at Schaeffler over the years. From there, the discussion moved to real use cases. Together with Christina Fischer, Project Lead at Schaeffler Advanced Production Concepts, we are currently working on the SYNAOS x Omniverse project, where traffic and fleet processes are simulated and validated in a physically realistic 3D environment before the real setup begins. For this, we developed a connector between SYNAOS and NVIDIA Omniverse that translates VDA5050 into ROS2 commands. In addition, an Isaac Sim extension allows AGV graphs to be adjusted flexibly, making it possible to test new routes early and reduce commissioning time later on. What became clear during the workshop was that this is not just about technology. It is about finding ways to turn synergies into real application faster. Our takeaways: ✅ - Early validation saves time later during commissioning. - Synergies emerge where technological development meets real use cases. - Existing interfaces can evolve into real joint projects.
