Safety upgrades are showing up in a new way along some Southern California roadways 🚧 Drivers striking poles accounts for approximately 80% of SCE’s public safety incidents, with more than 3,000 poles struck each year. We’ve begun installing bright yellow cushions around utility poles in areas with a history of repeated vehicle collisions, helping reduce impact severity, protecting drivers and first responders, and lowering the risk of outages for nearby communities. Using data to identify high-risk locations, crews recently installed the first cushions in San Timoteo Canyon near Redlands, with more planned across our service area.
