As #mentalhealthweek comes to a close, we’re reflecting with pride on the compassion, skill, and commitment our teams bring to mental health care every day across Scarborough. This week is a moment to pause and recognize that work - but it is also a reminder that supporting mental health is ongoing. The needs in our community continue to grow, and so does our responsibility to respond with care that is thoughtful, accessible, and grounded in dignity. In the weeks ahead, that commitment continues in meaningful ways. Through our upcoming mental health session with Woburn Collegiate Institute, SHN teams will be working alongside students to build mental health literacy, explore how care is delivered, and create space for honest conversations about mental health, resilience, and support. By engaging youth early, we’re helping young people better understand mental health and feel more confident navigating care for themselves and others. Keep an eye out for some wonderful content to follow from that event. At the same time, SHN is looking to the future through a major redevelopment at Birchmount Hospital, bringing together inpatient mental health services and Scarborough’s first dedicated mental health emergency department to support more connected care when it matters most. Thank you to every staff member, physician, and partner who advances mental health care at SHN - during Mental Health Week and throughout the year.
