When every second matters, SHN has a cardiac team ready to act. ❤️ Recently, Murali Murthy from Connecting GTA visited SHN to sit down with our Chief & Medical Director of Cardiology, Dr. Amir JanMohamed to learn more about the life-saving care our teams provide every day—and why access to world-class cardiac care close to home matters for our community. As the designated Cardiac Centre for the Scarborough–Durham region, SHN provides life-saving care to patients across Scarborough, Durham, and beyond. Every year, our teams care for 40,000+ outpatient cardiac patients, perform 5,500+ Catheterization (Cath) and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab procedures, and treat 3,500+ cardiac inpatients. We also operate one of the largest Code STEMI programs in Ontario, ensuring patients experiencing the most severe heart attacks receive rapid, life-saving treatment. With cardiac patient volumes projected to increase by 20% over the next five years, donor support is more important than ever to help us continue delivering world-class cardiac care close to home.
