Our Director of Risk Assessment and Controls, Chrispine Karuri (CPA-K, MBA) recently participated in a vital Directors Climate & Nature Forum Roundtable. This pivotal initiative, funded by FSD Africa and developed in partnership with a dedicated working group, was convened by Burson Kenya in partnership with WWF Kenya, Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC and Caroline O. The forum aimed to strengthen governance capabilities among executive leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and frameworks essential for embedding critical climate and nature considerations into boardroom decision-making and strategic oversight. The discussions underscored the pressing urgency of climate and nature risks, highlighting over $80 billion in financial losses globally from nature-related risks alone, with significant cascading impacts on share prices, credit ratings, and legal liabilities. Organizations embedding climate and nature into enterprise risk management frameworks do more than mitigate losses; they build competitive resilience and fulfill fiduciary duties. Effective board oversight requires asking the right strategic questions and ensuring management integrates these risks into core decision-making. #RiskManagement #ClimateRisk #BoardGovernance #CorporateGovernance #Sustainability #ExecutiveLeadership
