Have you heard about SWIR yet? SBM Offshore’s Seawater Intake Riser (SWIR) is an innovative technology designed in collaboration with Shell to bring colder seawater from approximately 700 meters depth up to an #FPSO’s topsides, so it can be used for cooling purposes.   Why does it matter? Because, depending on process and site conditions, SWIR can help improve #energyefficiency by enabling cold seawater use for onboard process cooling (and potentially supporting power generation), contributing to reduced fuel gas consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions in offshore production—an important step toward more #sustainableoperations.   We’re also proud to share that American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted the Statement of Maturity for SWIR, following a structured qualification process and a successful prototype campaign witnessed by Shell and Petrobras. At OTC 2026, don’t miss our Project Lead Caio Bonini, who will present the SWIR project and what it can enable for the next generation of #offshore energy infrastructure. Topic: The Latest in Offshore Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage. Innovative Sea Water Intake Riser (SWIR) Development to Support Decarbonization of the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry. 📅 Tuesday 05/05 🕝15:40h Venue: Technical Session, Room 300   #Innovation #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #OTCHouston #Engineering #SBMOffshore #SWIR
